Life Saving Appliances

5 lessons

Every life-saving appliance and how surveyors test you on it: personal LSA, distress signals, liferafts, lifeboats and launching — with SOLAS rules and maintenance intervals.

This chapter collects 5 illustrated lessons on Life Saving Appliances as part of Safety, ordered as they are best studied. It opens with LSA Chapter 1: Categories of LSA & Personal Life-Saving Appliances, LSA Chapter 2: Pyrotechnics, VHF, SART, EPIRB & GMDSS, LSA Chapter 3: Line Throwing, EEBD & SCABA, LSA Chapter 4: Life Rafts — Capacity, Equipment & Launching, LSA Chapter 5: Lifeboats — Types, Engine, Davit & Drills. Each lesson is written for MEO oral and written preparation: definitions first, then how the system behaves, then the checks and figures used in practice.
